New Mini-Adventures, New Deals, New BRITANE
I’ve just added Giant Days 3 to my store. Giant Days 1 is back in print too. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! I’ve also got a host of new combo packs allowing you to mop up some of my best stories at a price that’s right.
You want me to draw something in them and sign ‘em to you or a close personal friend? That’s okay too! I spoke to a doctor and they said that these self-contained yarns are an ideal gift for someone you want to impress.
Thought Bubble 2013, Nov 23-24
We are only a week and a bit away from this year’s Thought Bubble Festival in Leeds! Thought Bubble is Britain’s best comic convention, it gets bigger every year. Plus it’s in Leeds, not London, a treat for anyone who enjoys the fact that England is a country and not just London and some extraneous fronds.
I will be at table 144 in the New Dock Hall. Where’s that? HERE:
I will have the following items, in ascending price order:
RAW LOVE FOR FANS (free)
Badges and stickers
Giant Days 1, 2 and ALL NEW ISSUE 3!
Murder She Writes and THAT
Postcard sketches 4U
Prints in a “variety of sizes”
Bad Machinery Vol 1 softcover and hardcover
Original artwork from the Scary Go Round epoch
I hope to see some/all of you there.
I WILL BE AT SPX
Next weekend (September 14th-15th 2013) I will be at SPX in Bethesda, Maryland! It’s the best show, with the best people, and I always have a whale of a time. You will too should you attend.
I’ll be at table F8 (FATE! IT’S FATE!!) with my good friend Joe List. I really hope that some of you will come along and say hello. It’s my first US show in a couple of years, and they’re few and far between these days, so take your opportunity to see me before the years finally take their toll.
Scary Go Round Book Sale!
Until August 13th, you can get 50% off all my remaining in-print Scary Go Round collections at Topatoco. Stocks are dwindling, particularly of books 5 & 8, and they’re unlikely to ever be reprinted. Books 1 to 4 (all out of print) go for nutty prices on eBay when they appear so avoid later complaint and order now.
If you’re not familiar with my earlier series, the Scary Go Round collections all run to 200+ pages and feature many characters who surface in older form in Bad Machinery. I’m proud of these stories!
Great Aches (book 5) features the story which gave Giant Days its name, as Esther and The Boy run off to Wales.
Ahoy Hoy (book 6) contains the huge Erin arc, Super Crisis Quests.
Peloton (book 7) is my personal favourite, with Amy entering the shadowy world of antiques, Ryan seduced by the smuggler’s lifestyle, and a visit to France for a very special easter tale.
Recklessly Yours (book 8) introduces a very small Charlotte and Shauna, sees Shelley visit Atlantis, and winds up seven years of comics as well as I knew how at the time.
If you’re ordering from the UK, the books are all about a fiver, which should more than offset the international shipping. And the combo pack is on sale too. That’s it, thank you for your attention!
Why isn’t the comic still called Scary Go Round?
I get asked this all the time. Why isn’t Giant Days called Scary Go Round? Why isn’t Bad Machinery called Scary Go Round? It’s on the same URL. There are characters in common.
The answer is really easy. It’s the same reason that a bank robber changes his name when he runs away to Brazil. So people won’t keep asking him questions about what he did back when he robbed banks. It’s a line in the sand. Also, I robbed a load of banks.
It’s still on the same URL because I don’t believe you should ever give people a jumping-off point. Disappearing from their bookmarks is a pretty easy way to lose a load of lazy dudes.
